Meeting notes - Monday 17th Aug 2026 7.30pm - 9pm

  • Attendees: Shaun, Saul, Clare, Julia, Liddy
  • Apologies: Sue
  • Several potential new members have been in touch and Shaun has shared information and invited them to the next meeting (Sarah, Jude, Liv, Isac)

Group Development

  • Local Campaign Organiser role - we discussed what the role might involve and how it might contribute to the local group. There will be 5 posts a year and these will be selected nationally so we need to wait and see if Sheffield is selected for a post this year.
  • Launch meetings for FoE Groups in Doncaster (8 Sep) and Rotherham (22 Sep) - Julia, Sue and Liddy are able to attend these online meetings to contribute to relevant discussion of local group activities.
  • Support for Admin tasks - Shaun has put together a summary of the current admin issues. Several need action or a response from the national team. ACTION: Shaun to share with national FoE and ask for a response.

Campaigning

Planet over Profit Campaign
  • All the postcards have been sent to MPs - ACTION: Liddy to check which have signed Good Business pledge and chase up others.
  • Westminster Action on Wednesday 21 October
Climate Change
  • Webinar - Building local resilience to online climate disinformation, Monday 21 September, 7.00pm ACTION: As the webinar clashes with our monthly meeting we suggest we could watch it after the meeting

Investor State Dispute Settlement

  • We have been asked to help Global Justice Now during three days of global action between 15-17 Oct. Julia attended the joint meeting and we have agreed to support their stalls and/or actions where possible rather than try and organise an independent stall.
  • There is also an opportunity to watch the associated film as a group (available online)

Newsletter

  • Saul has put out an editors’ articles request and suggested a changed release date to 4th Monday which allows more time to put content together
  • Saul has also asked for feedback on content sections, design, network wide news, calls to action. Simon may be able to provide Action Network data on number of downloads/readers

Stalls

  • ACTION: Clare will check that we have a stall at the December Pollen Market.
