Business

Attendees: Liddy (Chair), Julia, Sue, Bee, Saul, Claire plus Jessye, Becca and Autumn to represent Change Hub team 
Apologies: Shaun, Ashwini


Christmas Social - Business meeting 7-7:30, followed by Christmas Social It is possible to order food in advance to be served at 7:30. Christmas menus have been circulated by email but usual evening food menu also available (pizzas, burgers, chips)


FoE Training - Building People Power - Simon Bowen has asked if we could find a few members (ideally in pairs) interested in joining this online course which runs Jan-April 2026. Email circulated by Shaun on 8 November with more information. Deadline for expressions of interest (to Simon Bowens) by end of Nov.


Banners for the stall - Saul and Shaun have been researching options and Simon Bowens suggested he may be able to supply a banner but that might be complicated to arrange. Saul to clarify with Simon both what images/logos he can provide and what his banners look like.


Campaigns

Planet over Profit 
  • Change Lab
    • Liddy met with Jessye, Becca and Autumn and they are planning to sound out local businesses at the Sustainable Fair in Victoria Hall this Saturday and discuss getting their support for the campaign and letters to their MPs. If you have suggestions for local business they could contact then you can add to Google spreadsheet or let them know by email - Autumn <fnixon3@sheffield.ac.uk>, Jessye <jphillips21@sheffield.ac.uk>
    • They also suggested that they could organise a film showing at the Student Film Society. They will attend the PoP webinar next week to get more information on the national campaign and film showing
    • Petition hand over is now in May 2026. We have 97 signed postcards and potential to get more at the Jonathan Porritt talk on 8 Dec. We will also advertise the QR code for the petition with QR code distributed on seats.

  • Stalls
    • The Sheffield Biodiversity & Regenerative Food Festival was a good event but it was difficult to engage people.
    • Jonathan Porritt talk at SHU - plan is to set up stall at 6pm as talk starts at 6.30pm. Sue may be able to bring postcards or will give to Saul, Julia, Bee & Liddy to join to man stall and Saul and Claire will be doing QR codes on seats. Shaun to check with organiser we will have a table and chairs outside talk?
    • Possibility of indoor Pollen Market events at Kelham Island - Claire to investigate
    • Sheffield Utilita Energy Hub is offering an opportunity for a free stall on any Saturday. It is a shop front with a small space. Sue offered to investigate and feed back.

  • Next Webinar for PoP campaign - 25th November 7pm. Saul and Julia able to attend and feed back. A Change Hub student rep will also attend to feedback to them

COP30
  • Discussed violence at Manchester event and need for good stewarding given lack of police involvement. Hall event was felt to be successful and a good opportunity for some good conversations.

Climate Plan

  • Meeting with Abtisam Mohamed MP to be rearranged - Julia to liaise with her office to find a new time and date.
  • The new climate plan has been released and FoE response on strengths and weaknesses is available
  • FoE Climate Plan Webinar - Tuesday 18th Nov. See Link. - Liddy to attend and feedback.

Events


FoE Northern Groups end of year online celebration - 8 December, 7pm. See link. This clashes with the Jonathan Porritt stall but anyone unable to come to the talk is welcome to join online event
