United for Warm Homes campaign: https://unitedforwarmhomes.uk/
We watched a recording
of one of the FoE launch seminars and had a discussion about how to proceed
locally.
We have been
involved in similar coalitions for national campaigns like The Big Ask for
introduction of the Climate Change Act. We discussed the potential to involve
non-environmental groups and fracking groups, different potential approaches to
campaigning and overlap or synergies with other groups and related campaigns.
Tomorrow’s SY
Climate Alliance meeting could be the relevant forum to start to identify
relevant coalitions and start engaging with community groups. The potential to
start in one area (such as Lowedges) was suggested. A thermal imaging camera
(£450) that could be used in their homes might be a good way to directly
interest people in a local community group. Ideally we need to find community
champions for the campaign.
Lindy shared an example from Derbyshire: NE Derbyshire council action on retrofitting
