1. Sheffield  FoE Annual Report 2020 -21:

Lindy presented the Annual Report and shared reflections on the last year of campaigning during the Covid-19 pandemic and our ongoing campaigns and other activities. Read the report here: https://www.sheffieldfoe.co.uk/2021/04/annual-report-april-2021.html

2. Election of officers:

We re-elected Lindy as co-ordinator, Liddy as treasurer and Shaun as communication manager (managing website and social media). Liddy briefly presented the accounts for 2020/21.

3. Local Council elections:

We have organised six hustings with SCA, one in each of the Sheffield constituencies with a focus on environmental issues (broadly defined). Attendees asked to submit questions in advance to ensure a range of issues are covered with a maximum of 90 minutes.

4. Local Group Review:

Maya led a session on forward planning and organised breakout rooms for initial discussions before sharing the responses to our local group review (34 so far) to plan for the year ahead.

Review survey link is here: https://www.sheffieldfoe.co.uk/2021/04/what-next-for-sheffield-foe.html

She shared lots of suggestions and resources for the campaigning activities identified as priorities by the survey including webinars:

The group collectively identified Nature Recovery and Stalls/Community Action as specific priorities which were then discussed in breakout rooms in order to start to formulate specific plans.

Stalls/Community Action – discussed working with schools as part of community and also potential for combining Simple Steps online meetings for specific areas followed up with stalls or events in local library/community venue. These would be possible even if larger events such as fairs and festivals cannot go ahead this year.

Nature Recovery – discussion included need to ensure opportunities and events to get involved in tree planting etc are shared appropriately and where personal and local action could be effective.

Everyone was asked to commit to one action after the meeting and consider how much time they can give to the group.

Next Local Group Meeting – 7:30pm on 17 May 2021 – meeting on Zoom
