Since June 2014 Sheffield Friends of the Earth has campaigned to stop Smithy Wood, an ancient woodland, from being destroyed by a proposed motorway service station. To see more details of our campaigning work click here.
At the end of January 2020 we received good news that the plan to build a motorway service station on the ancient woodland beside the M1 has been dropped. See here for more details.
