Wildlife & Habitats Campaign Update - July 2015

Smithy Wood
There is a planning committee meeting on 20 October. We should have an activity ahead of that.
We are still awaiting a decision on village green status. It is not expected to be granted.

Bee meadows
David has been in touch with the Wildlife Trust re a pleasant green space behind the Shell station at the bottom of Ecclesall Road. It could be designated as a bee meadow, which would mean that a fence might be needed to keep dogs off. However, this area is already a nature reserve and already has many bees. Item postponed to next meeting.

Saleema Imam has kindly sent us a couple of pictures of the bee friendly wildlife garden some of our members helped to plant along with members of Burngreave Cemetery.

Trees - (particularly Rustlings Rd trees)
There is nothing we can add as the campaign has already taken off. David is going to the Council meeting next Saturday when Amey's plan for trees in general will be discussed.
