Food Campaign Update - July 2015

The food subgroup is meeting on August 5th, 6.30 at the Red Deer. Fran Graham, who is a Campaign Assistant at national FoE, specialising in sustainable diets, is coming from London.

Bristol FoE are advocating flexitarianism, which is a type of diet. It is mostly plant-based, but includes some animal products (in small amounts).

Various ideas were discussed. Some restaurants now include the calorie count on menus, however, knowing the calorie count doesn't necessarily drive down consumption. In one Edinburgh restaurant diners can choose between having a small, medium or large plate. Not wasting food is very important and it would be a good idea to encourage people to take a doggy bag when eating out, in order not to over-eat or waste food.
