Tour de France Update - July 2014

Yorkshire was recently thrown into a yellow bicycle-themed turmoil as the Tour de France came to town. And city, and countryside. Sheffield Friends of the Earth was allowed a stall at the Oughtibridge Hub. Our focus was on the need to petition for better provision of cycling lanes as well as showing "do's & don'ts" for being a responsible cyclist. A very successful attraction to the stall was a cycling  board game called "Match Sprint" enjoyed by all ages. Everyone who played made a donation to Sheffield Friends of the Earth and were given a duplicate set to enjoy playing at home, the sets having been made by various members of the group. Around £25 was raised during the day's event.

The game was a good way to attract lots of people to the stall where we could move the conversation on to other issues and hand out information leaflets. Some even signed petitions.

Thank you to Richard, John and Steve on the organising group for their efforts and thank you to Greenpeace for the use of your boards.
