Film Festival Review 2014

At our June meeting we held a review of our recent film festival. It was suggested that we do not hold a film festival in the university venue again for the following reasons:
  • It was really cold and we could not turn the air conditioning off.
  • It was difficult to find.
  • There was a lack of advertising space.
  • Wrong time of the year as it clashed with other events.
  • Faulty equipment (the projector shuts off half way through then you have to wait until it warns up again after it has cooled down).
  • Speckled white spots on screen.
Members suggestion that we go back to the United Reform church. However, before making a decision we will look at the possibility of working with the Magic Lantern Film Club which David will look in to. Shaun is to meet up with a contact put forward by Eamonn Ward from the Green Party and will report back as soon as possible.

It was suggested that we check out what is happening with the national FoE film festival and hire the showroom cinema. Beatrice will look into this.

Finally, we thought of having a family friendly film to bring in a different and younger audience. John will investigate options with Young Friends of the Earth.
