It was standing room only for most of the films at our 3rd Green Film Festival at the Red Deer pub. We raised around £80 from donations, but the cost of the film licences mean we made a loss. At our general meeting we discussed what was good and bad about the event. In particular, we liked the fact that new people turned up to watch the films and many in the audience were young people. John will investigate the feasibility of working with the UK Green Film Festival for next year’s event and also alternative venues for the showings.
Maureen’s final day of volunteering at Sheffield Friends of the Earth was at the last film in our festival. Although the film was called Happy, it was sad to see Maureen leave the group after many years of hard work and her outstanding dedication to protecting the environment. We couldn't let her leave without celebrating with a few drinks in the beer garden. We wish Maureen every success for her future in Southampton.
