Friends of the Earth has launches two new strategic campaigns which will run for the next few years. The first campaign, called “Food Chain” seeks to address the impact that intensive meet and diary farming have on forests and the climate. The “Get Serious” campaign directly follows on from The Big Ask and is focusing on local delivery of emission cuts. At the April meeting, the group decided to target our resources and campaign on the “Get Serious” campaign. We will use this as an opportunity to engage both new and less active members and to work with other groups who are also targeting Sheffield City Council. If we succeed in this campaign we will see Sheffield City Council reduce its CO2 emissions be 40% by 2020.
