On Saturday 30th June the Sheffield branch of Campaign Against Climate Change organised a 'Cut the Carbon' Cyclecade to coincide with other events happening around the country.Liddy from the Sheffield Friends of the Earth group joined the others to make placards for bicycles. It was planned to disguise the bikes as greenhouses, icebergs and a rainforest. Other ideas included dressing up as a wind turbine or a polar bear.
After assembling at St Mary's Church the group cycled around the city centre to Barker's Pool with the assistance of police cyclists. At the end point were a rally and the launch of a new petition calling on the Council to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
