At this year’s Mayfest event, Sheffield Friends of the Earth lined up along side pop stars Liberty X, ex-Busted member Matt Willis and ex-Blue star Duncan James (to the delight of the female members of Sheffield Friends of the Earth).
Our stall was used to promote the Big Ask climate change campaign by handing out more free energy saving light bulbs, climate-solutions postcards and the usual informative leaflets. Members of the public were also encouraged to complete Big Ask postcards calling MPs to sign up to a 3% yearly reduction of greenhouse gasses.
Local MPs David Blunkett and Angela Smith were invited to the festival by Sheffield Friends of the Earth so they could sign up to EDM 178 in person. (the bill asking for 3% yearly cuts). Unfortunately both MPs declined the offer.
Despite the rain we distributed a number of free water saving bags. Maureen’s electric car and the recently purchased gazebo provided adequate shelter from the rain.
