Shell Climate Hell

On the Saturday afternoon of the local groups’ conference, FoE wanted no more than 50 people to demonstrate  about climate change outside the local Shell garage in Chester. Due to the importance of this campaign I would guess that the number of protesters shouting “Shell Shell Climate Hell” and waving placards numbered nearly 80 instead of the maximum of 50.

Also present at the demonstration  was FoE’s 12ft Shell Demon which is shown opposite in a Leeds garage.
I don’t know how many people normally use the petrol station on one of Chester’s main roads but during approximately one hour of campaigning about 3 people called in  only to be greeted by our demon. Thankfully many passing motorists beeped their horns in support of our campaign - Shell may do well to listen to them. The event gained media support from both radio and the local newspapers.
