Healthy Air Leicester and Leicestershire (of which Leicester Friends of the Earth is a member) is developing an elaborate plan to publicise the petition for the electrification of the Midland Mainline and obtain media coverage. They are going to take a giant green plug on the Midland Mainline on Saturday 17th October, to raise awareness of the campaign for electrification and collect signatures for a paper version of the petition. They are hoping to organise this as a relay by passing the plug between campaigners in different locations. Sheffield Friends of the Earth hope to be involved in this campaign and are planning what to do at the moment.
