Fracking - January 2014

John and Beatrice informed the group about another trip they made over the Pennines to support the anti-fracking campaigners in Barton Moss, Manchester. They mentioned that the Sheffield FoE banner is difficult to hold so we suggested purchasing some broom handles or aluminium poles. Hopefully they will get them in time for their next trip to Manchester which will be at the weekend.

Members mentioned the BBC’s Look North and Inside Out programme (20 Jan) which featured a gas and oil expert taking about the dangers of unregulated fracking. If it is still available then we suggest watching it on the BBC iPlayer.

Beatrice was featured on the Sheffield Live radio station. The link to listen is here   http://www.sheffieldlive.org/mp3/20140116160001.mp3

South Yorkshire Greenpeace would like to work with us on fracking so we are planning to run a few joint stalls. We hope the first stall will take place on the 8th February in Sheffield, followed by a stall in Rotherham on the 15th February.

Richard is planning to run a stall about fracking at a tenants' meeting in Dinnington on the 24th January.
