Bike to The Future

Sheffield FoE campaigners Amyan Macfadyen and Trisha Brutus arranged hospitality for Climate Chains, a group of environmentally minded cyclists from Bradford and Leeds who travelled to  Sheffield the night of November 30th.

They were at the start of a 200 mile, 6 day cycling journey to London and The Wave, the massive demonstration organised by  Stop Climate Chaos on Saturday December 5th. (See page 1)

Among the cyclists was veteran campaigner, Mary Keynes, who celebrated her 80th birthday with a send off from Bradford Centenary Square and a birthday cake cut by the mayor of Bradford.

“The idea came about when my son and I watched Age of Stupid and decided we ought to be being a bit more active than just trying to 'live light'. We felt we must do something more.” Said Heather Blakey, who had the original idea for the ride.
