Support for Wind Farms

A number of people from our group have supported the following renewable energy projects, either as individuals or on behalf of the group.

Humber Gateway:

There are plans to build a multi-million pound 300MW offshore wind farm over 8km off the coast of East Yorkshire, just north of the Humber estuary. The proposed wind farm would consist of up to 83 turbines and generate enough clean renewable energy to power up to 195,000 homes.

Leeds - Hook Moor
Five wind turbines with a generating capacity of 15 Megawatts are being considered in Leeds. If granted permission these devices would meet the city’s renewable energy targets for the rest of the decade by powering more than 8,000 local homes..

Stocksbridge
Evelop UK Limited is proposing a five turbine windfarm 2km North West of Stocksbridge and 10km south west of Barnsley. The wind farm has a potential electricity generation capacity of up to 15 MW, which could supply the equivalent of approximately 9,000 homes per year.

Barnsley West and Penistone MP Mick Clapham, Hillsborough MP Angela Smith and prospective conservative parliamentary candidate Spencer Pitfield have come out against this development. Penistone Town Council, three parish councils (Hunshelf, Oxspring and Langsett)  and Stocksbridge Town Council have all objected to the wind farm proposal.
